Shelley has a bit of a story so please read the whole thing before enquiring.
This stunning black mare originally came to us from a lovely jumps racing family home. This beauty taught plenty of track riders at Ballarat how to gallop with her kind nature.
We took her on, did some basic retraining, road rides and schooling and sold her to a family we’ve sold a few others too previously. The rider is a competent junior but sadly they had some issues with Shelley being aggressive on the ground and apparently reared under saddle.
 
 
THIS IS NOT THE HORSE NOR HER OLD TRAINER KNOW. She has been near bombproof since being back with us, we lead her in with other mare by juniors daily. She is kind and easy to hard feed. She stands patiently in the yards for her turn, can canter her down the road with no hands, jumps and then a loose rein walk. She is just a doll!
 
 
Maybe sensitive to their grass? Maybe being protective of her paddock friend. I do NOT know but a good reminder horses are not robots and if they are unsettled in one place doesn’t make them a bad horse. Sometimes when horses come here we have to change their friends, paddocks 10 times before they settle - it takes months for some horses. There is always a reason for a change in behaviour like that so please don’t enquire if you can’t give this mare what she needs to thrive. I want a long term home for this beautiful girl. Because of her history no juniors please, a confident adult who can pick up on queues.
